ConGlomeration’s 2019 Gaming lineup includes:

  • Panels and workshops on game mastering
  • Tips and tricks for making more compelling RPG characters
  • Advice on working in the games industry
  • Hands-on miniature painting

The programs listed below will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville, KY during Easter weekend — April 19-21 — as part of ConGlomeration 2019. This goes hand-in-hand with our 50-hour tabletop Game Room.

If you want to spend an entire weekend discussing, creating, and playing tabletop games with a few hundred fellow game-geeks — ConGlomeration 2019 is the place to be.

Like anime AND gaming? Want to be the hero of your own anime? Need something casual to play? Look no further, otome games are definitely for you! So let’s explore some popular games and where to find them! Suggested ages teen and older, please.

“Don’t Be the @$$ at the Game Table”

Gaming is a team sport, but a lot of us nerds never learned how to play well with others. A still-in-recovery “difficult gamer” talks about lessons learned and how you — as GM or player — can make gaming more fun for yourself and the other people at your table. 

“The Infamous GM Panel”

The annual tradition continues. ConGlomeration’s most experienced (and nefarious) game masters discuss how to up your skill at hosting, planning, plotting, and surviving tabletop roleplaying game sessions as a GM.

GROUP GAME: “Little Red Riding Hood Murder Mystery”
10pm | Franklin
Step into the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood as she and the village try to figure out who killed grandmother. Is it the “big bad” Wolf, the woodsman, the butcher, or Red herself? Walk into tale if you dare, but don’t get lost in the woods or you could be the next victim.

“Foam Sword Construction”

Learn to forge sturdy foam swords from easily accessible materials for lightsaber duels, Human vs. Zombies-style games, and more. Anything you make is yours to take home. Stick around for sword fighting and game demos. Limited to 15 participants. Participants under 12 years old will need adult permission. Unlimited observers.

“A World in an Hour”
11am | Elliott
Hosted by Brian Cooksey (Play On Target and Armor Goes Clank). An audience-participation exercise which will produce a setting suitable for gaming or fiction. Guest-starring Author Guest of Honor Timothy Zahn!

“Beyond Tabletop — Miniature Painting Class”
1pm | Franklin
It’s time to get those long-neglected minis painted and onto the game table! This 2-hour hands-on class will demonstrate how to paint a miniature to a basic tabletop quality and beyond. Shading, blending and highlighting as well as other techniques will be covered as we paint together. Each participant will receive a free miniature. All materials supplied.

KIDCON LARP: “Super Secret Spy Academy”
1pm | Jefferson
Someone has stolen the super secret plans for ConGlomeration 2020! If they can’t be found, there wont be a convention next year. ConGlom is looking for a few good spies to decode secret messages, lift fingerprints, solve puzzles, and track the criminals. Join Elder Entertainment and help us nab the culprit, recover the stolen goods, and save the con! This is a Kid-Friendly LARP for anyone between the ages of 8 and 13. Children as young as 6 are welcome if a parent wishes to register and play with them! Please note the game requires minimal reading abilities and focus. SSSA is being run by professional teachers/child care workers, and we look forward to spending time with your kiddos while you enjoy the con!

“Podcasting About Games”

Hosted by Brian Cooksey (Play on Target) and Mark Kinney (All Games Considered). General discussion about podcasting techniques and tricks, with maybe a small teaser for the new Armor Goes Clank podcast.

“SIGMA Sci-Fi Think Tank”
3pm | Perry
SIGMA is the science fiction think tank founded by Dr. Arlan Andrews, Sr., when he worked at the White House Science Office where 40 science fiction and game writers provide futurism consulting to the US government. Come listen to Dr. Andrews recount his experience with the organization.

“How an English Major Runs an RPG”
4pm | Franklin
Learn how to use story beats, timebound plotting, character arcs and, above all, the classic three-act structure to create better roleplaying game characters and run better RPG campaigns.

KIDCON: “Gaming for Kids”

LARP: “Monster’s Ball”
7pm | Jefferson
Minimum age 18; Up to 20 players. The Fairfield-Marshes of Innsmouth cordially invite you to the wedding of their daughter Cordelia. Family and friends will be coming from far and deep to celebrate the joining of the two very prominent families, and the matriarch guarantees a good time will be had by all. When the bride walks down the aisle and takes her “sacred vows,” however, the groom may be getting more than he bargained for. Its an Innsmouth wedding! Come join the Marsh clan as they celebrate; they may be losing a daughter, but you could be gaining gills! Praise Cthulhu!

GROUP GAME: “Murder at the Huthbert Inn”

Welcome to the Huthbert Inn, a historic bed and breakfast. Everything seems lovely and calm until one of the other guests is found dead in their room. Could it be foul play or possibly the famed ghost of the inn? Step into the parlour to gather the clues and figure out what happened or if someone else will be haunting the inn.

“Dystopia Rising LARP: Intro and Q&A”

The Kentucky branch of the Dystopia Rising LARP explains what their LARP is about and answer any questions about what it is like to play.

Panel hosted by Mayghin Levine. Non-traditional gamers (women, LGBTQ+, racial minorities) talk about their experiences in gaming and how everyone can make games more inclusive and welcoming for a diversity of players.

“The Tavern at the End of the Con”

The alcohol is imaginary but the memories are real. Unwind for the last hour of ConGlomeration and share the best and “truest” tales of the events of this year’s convention.
