ConGlomeration’s 2019 Art & Artists program lineup, headlined by Magic: The Gathering illustrator Winona Nelson, includes:

The programs listed below will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville, KY during Easter weekend — April 19-21 — as part of ConGlomeration 2019.

ConGlomeration Art Show Open

The ConGlomeration Art Show is an exhibition of science fiction and fantasy art in several media — particularly illustrations and sculpture — available free to all attendees.

WORKSHOP: “Life Drawing”
3pm | Crowne Ballroom, Art Show Area
Bring your sketchbook and draw with us! Clothed figures in gesture poses, short poses, and one 25-minute pose. Drawing supplies provided.

WORKSHOP: “Tiny Masterpieces”
4pm | Crowne Ballroom, Art Show Area
Join artist Lily Alanna in creating a miniature painting using an altered playing card as your canvas.  Bring your imagination and get your paint on!

“Character Design”
5pm | Crowne Ballroom, Art Show Area
Cartoonist and tattoo artist Adam Hicks takes you on a journey through his process of character design. There may be unicorns with chainsaw hooves involved. Seriously.

“ConGlomeration 2019 Opening Ceremonies and Guests of Honor Meet & Greet”

Join us in welcoming the 2019 Guests of Honor — including Artist Winona Nelson — for our big Fandom Family Reunion. Come see who’s here and learn what we’ve got planned for this year’s festivities!

“Writer/Artist Combo, Part 1: The Inspiration”
10pm | Oldham
Artists, bring an image to serve as a story prompt. Writers, bring a flash fiction piece of 1000 words or less to inspire an art piece. Artist or writer, leave with a piece of inspiration, and return with a completed image or flash-fiction piece Saturday night to show off the results of your unspoken collaboration.

“Exquisite Corpse”
10:30pm | Oldham
A group-drawing extravaganza. Can’t draw? Doesn’t matter! Seemingly unconnected pieces of a drawing combine to make an amazing picture. Come and contribute to the awesomeness!

Help! The interdimensional trap is not working correctly. It is no longer giving visuals. We need your help identifying what the trap might contain.

“Artist Jam”

Artist Guest of Honor Winona Nelson and ConGlomeration favorite Melissa Gay work together to produce art right before your very eyes. Prepare to be amazed / enchanted / unsettled. We make no promises.

“Sci-Fi Pictionary”
1pm | Crowne Ballroom, Art Show Area
Join Artist Guest of Honor Winona Nelson , Kevin Ward, Darrenn Canton, Cris Griffin and other attending artists as they put their skills to the test in a game of sci-fi-themed Pictionary. Will they crack under the pressure? Art Show maven Lynn Harris will emcee the event with her usual style and grace.

“Winona Nelson Portfolio Viewing”

Our 2019 Artist Guest of Honor Winona Nelson reviews her work, her career, and her philosophy of art, science fiction, and fantasy.

WORKSHOP: “Watercolor Dragons”
3pm | Crowne Ballroom, Art Show Area
Darrenn Canton walks you through the steps of drawing and painting a dragon. Since dragons are “imaginary”, there is no right or wrong way to draw one. Join us!

KIDCON: “Art Encounter with Winona Nelson”

A hands-on hour of art with our Artist Guest of Honor Winona Nelson.

“Women in Science Fiction & Fantasy Media”
5pm | Crowne Ballroom, Art Show Area
Artist Guest of Honor Winona Nelson, Melissa Gay, and Cris Griffin, Editor Lynn West, and game reviewer Marsha White discuss the unique challenges, experiences, and opportunities for women in the world of sci-fi & fantasy media.

Art Show Auction
7pm | Coronet Ballroom
Art Show items that have received three or more written bids go up for voice auction. Bid early and bid often! That art needs to come home with *you* –and your bidding foes must be defeated! ConGlomeration Art Show Awards, themselves pieces of art, are given out at the midpoint of the auction.

“Writer/Artist Combo, Part 2: The Exhibition”
10pm | Oldham
Artists, bring your completed images (or sculptures) in response to Friday’s story prompt. Writers, bring a flash fiction piece of 1000 words or less in response to a Friday art piece. Audience, revel in the talents and of those who churned out a tiny scrap of creative awesome in just a day, whilst also conning.

Hosted by Melissa Gay (Artist) and Carol Darnell (Writer/Editor). Experienced games contributors explore what it takes to freelance creative work for games, and delve into some of how the business works.

“Guests of Honor: Last Call”
1pm | Elliott
Final chance to say farewell to the 2019 Guests of Honor as well as a sneak peak at what we have planned for 2020. Come say adieu, get that last autograph, and get the scoop on what’s ahead.
