Announcing our 2014 Featured Science Guest Les Johnson

ConGlomeration is excited to welcome an honest-to-Zod rocket scientist into our 2014 ranks with the Featured Science Guest Les Johnson.

A graduate of Kentucky’s own Transylvania University, Les Johnson is an author of science fiction for Baen Books and popular science for Springer Books. He’s also the Deputy Manager for the Advanced Concepts Office at the NASA George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

In his fiction work, Johnson has collaborated with the likes of Ben Bova, Jack McDevitt and Travis S. Taylor. His non-fiction works have led to his appearance as a speaker at TEDx Huntsville.

When he’s not running a large portion of major NASA installation, Johnson helps organize the Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop, a regional symposium of space technology and exploration experts. Perhaps most impressively, Johnson holds a patent for his design of a hybrid spacecraft engine that combines a solar sail with an electrodynamic tether.
