Announcing the Conglomeration 2013 Featured Artist Lynn Harris
As an adult, working in administration moved Lynn away from practicing art. However, she was always involved in or chaired large events in which she facilitated art and artists. It was an honor to receive the Rebel Award from Deep South Con for recognition of work in fandom. Work in various areas and many years as the director of the RiverCon art show allowed Lynn to teach others how to run art shows.
Years later, Lynn decided to study art with friend and artist, Kevin Ward. Kevin and Lynn opened The Other Side Studio and Gallery in Nashville. They were looking for studio space, but ended up with a gallery! Their mission was to be a friendly space for local artists and they were successful in helping several. At The Other Side, Kevin and Lynn discovered a knack for collaborative painting. They refer to this work as being like a jazz improvisation.

During this time Lynn studied painting at Cheekwood in Nashville. Those studies were uncomfortable, being too formal for her process. She finally found Arunima Orr at the Art and Soul Studio, where she studied painting and three-dimensional sculpture from found objects. Lynn has also worked with stained glass and currently is exploring metals, stones and enamels with jeweler Susan Moody.
Leaving work in offices to open several antique booths with friends gives Lynn the best of both worlds. She works on her own schedule and explore the restoration of furniture and art.
Oh, Lynn found time to marry John Harris who has put up with her for forty years now! They have a wonderful son Ian, who married recently. They are all active in fandom in some way. Lynn will never be far away from art and artists. Art is pure joy for her and necessary in her world.
