Kevin is a native of Nashville, TN, who fell in love with illustration early in life. He started drawing at age three because there were simply not enough pictures of dinosaurs at the local library to satisfy him. From elementary school onward he was encouraged by his teachers to pursue art.
After studying fine art in college, and becoming disenchanted with it, he became fascinated instead by the idea of suggesting stories through images. His ongoing love of science, music, fantasy, and genre fiction provided a melding of images with subject matter so that illustration became the natural outlet for his creativity.

By 1980 he had worked his way into the science fiction subculture, with his first exhibit a near sell out providing the contacts for his first published work in Future Life Magazine. He has since provided many illustrations for publications in the US and in Europe including covers for books by such authors as Anne McCaffrey, Piers Anthony, Norman Spinrad, and others. His clients have included the Doubleday Publishing Group, Grolier Science Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls, TSR, Inc., and NASA, among others.
Still residing in Nashville, he is involved in working with other artists collaboratively and has a achieved a revitalized career after a long and grueling hiatus from illustration. He is currently producing e-book covers for an upcoming urban fantasy series.
